Christmas Wishes - Craftin Desert Divas October Sneak Peek

October 20, 2018 1 Comments
Hello Friends!

It's that time again! Time to share a sneak peek of Craftin Desert Divas new October release products.

Today the design team is sharing peeks of the new Merry Florals stamps. This is such a gorgeous set and one that I will be reaching fo this holiday season.

I kept this card pretty simple but I think it turned out beautiful

I colored the gorgeous poinsettia image with my Copic markers and fussy-cut it out.

The card base was layered with some patterned paper that I die-cut with CDD Fancy Frames. I heat-embossed the sentiment, also found in the Merry Florals set, with black embossing powder and stamped the rest of the sentiment with Momento ink onto a die-cut from CDD Pocket Pieces Hello Dies.

I popped everything up and added some Nuvo Glitter Gloss Aqua Shimmer Pen to the flowers and Nuvo Crystal Drops in Morning Dew to the berries.

The new products will be available in the CDD Shop on October 24.

There is plenty of sneak peeks to see. Be sure to head on over the Craftin Desert Divas Facebook Gallery to play along in games and to see all the fabulous projects the design team is creating.

No Tricking ~ with Craftin Desert Divas

October 06, 2018 0 Comments

Hello Creative Friends!

Happy World Card Making Day!

Today I am sharing a cute Halloween card comprised of products that can be found at Craftin Desert Divas.

I colored up this cute image with Copic markers and fussy-cut it out.

I don't know about you but I have a lot of patterned paper in my stash and It will take me years to use it all up so instead of doing some ink blending I used my dies and patterned paper.

I started with a black card base and layered it with white and a strip of green patterned paper that I die-cut with CDD Crazy Stitched Frames Die. Next I used CDD Pocket Pieces Hello Dies to cut my star patterned papers and I layered them on top.

The sentiment is from the same Ghostly Good Time Stamps and I heat embossed it with some Ranger Embossing Powder in Lime. I really like that it matches my patterned paper and it looks so cool on the black card stock. I die-cut it with CDD Flag Banner Dies. Before I attached it to my card I ties a piece of purple Baker's Twine around it and tied a bow. I pooped up my sentiment and image and completed my card.

Have a wonderful day and I hope you are able to find a moment to get your crafty supplies out and play a little today!

Ghostly Good Time ~ Craftin Desert Divas September Release

September 27, 2018 0 Comments

Hello friends! Thank you for stopping by my blog.

Today I have a mother Halloween card featuring the new Craftin Desert Divas Ghostly Good Time Stamps.

This tamp set has the cutest critters all dressed up for Halloween.

To create this card I began by creating a square panel and doing some ink blending with Distress Oxide inks. I used the following: Carved Pumpkin, Mowed Lawn, Wilted Violet, and Black Soot. Once I had everything blended to my linking I flicked on a little water and blotted it up with a towel. I added some flicks of black acrylic paint for more interest. I covered the panel with some Clear Wink of Stella to give it some shine.

While my ink blended panel was drying I dry embossed a white piece of cardstock with an old Cuttlebug Embossing Folder to give my card some texture.

I layered all of my panels onto my card base and added this cute little fox from the new CDD Ghostly Good Time Stamps. I colored her up with my Copic markers and red her up on my card. I added a heat embossed sentiment from this same set and scattered some Trick or Treat Sequins across the front and that competes my card.

Head on over to Craftin Desert Divas and check out all of the new stamps, dies, and stencil from this release.

I hope to be share more with you soon!

Until then,
Happy Crafting!!

Fang-tastic ~Craftin Desert Divas September Preview

September 22, 2018 0 Comments

Hello friends!

I'm so excited to share my first halloween card of the season!

Today I am showcasing some new products from Craftin Desert Divas.

This card is created with Craftin Desert Divas new Ghostly Good Times stamps and the fabulous Spider Web Stencil.

I started by creating a background with my Distress Oxide Inks. I used Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch, and Black Soot. Once I was happy with the background I spritzed it with some water and blotted it up with a paper towel.

To speed up the drying time I hit it with my heat gun and went onto stenciling.

For the stenciling I used the new CDD Spider Web Stencil and some Nuvo Glimmer Paste in Moonshine. This stuff is fabulous and really gives that spider web a little something extra.

I allowed my background to dry and went on to color my little vampire from the new Ghostly Good Times Stamps. This set has the cutes critters all dressed up for Halloween.

To finish up my card, I used CDD Fancy Frames Dies to cut out my background, heat embossed my sentiment in white, popped up my vampire with foam tape, and added some CDD Hocus Pocus Sequins.

The September Release will be in the CDD Shop on Tuesday, September 25, 2018.

To see more sneak peeks of this release be sure to head on over to the CDD Gallery

Thank you for joining me today!

See you soon!

There's something extra special about creating something from scratch and seeing the look on the recipient's face when they realize just how much thought and care went into everything from the wrapping to the card.

Today I am sharing a process video of the gorgeous card and matching gift bag you see pictured. I love how you can use heat embossed images to create beautiful backgrounds to coordinate together! Click the "play" button below to watch my project from start-to-finish.

Favorite Nut Shaker Card

August 28, 2018 0 Comments

Hello Friends! Saundra here to share a little step-by-step tutorial for creating a shaker card.

To create this shaker card you will need the following:

  • Cardstock
  • Acetate or clear packaging
  • Foam tape or Fun Foam
  • Adhesive
  • Versamark Ink or another sticky ink
  • Clear embossing powder
  • Stamps
  • Dies

Step 1: Stamp and heat emboss your background.

For my background panel, I stamped the acorn and leaf images from CDD Autumn Wishes stamps onto some kraft colored cardstock using Versa Mark Ink and clear embossing powder. For added interest, I splattered some white and black acrylic paint onto my panel and set it aside.

Step 2: Prepare inside panel.

For the inside panel, I used CDD Hill Scene 2 Stencil and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink to create a few clouds. I already had a plan in mind so I only stenciled the area that I thought would be showing.

Step 3: Die cut front panel.

To create my window for my acetate I placed the CDD Stitched-In Circles Dies on the edge of my panel, allowing it to partially hang over the edge. I thought having the window off center would give my shaker a bit more interest.

Step 4: Decorate the inside panel.

To decorate the inside panel I choose to use CDD Urn Dies and various colors of cardstock to create a tree branch in the background.

Step 5: Add Acetate

Now it is time to build my shaker card window. I like to use Scor-Tape or double-sided tape to secure my acetate. Liquid glue tends to ooze and it takes a while for it to dry. I am not that patient! Once your adhesive has been added around the opening you will want to add your acetate. I cut my acetate so that it was big enough for the window with some hanging over the side. In the next photo you will see what I mean, at least, I hope!

Step 6: Score your acetate.

With the acetate attached to my card front, I placed it on a scoreboard. You will want to score the acetate right next to the edge of the card and again about ⅛” from the first score line.

Step 7: Begin window assembly.

Now it’s time to assemble the card. I cut a piece of fun foam and added adhesive all over both sides. I also added a piece of Scor-Tape to the acetate flap that was created with my scoreboard.

Add your foam tape of fun foam to the backside of the front panel.

Step 8: Add Sequins

Before adhering your back panel to enclose the window you will need to add some sequins. The sequins I used here was from a fall pack that is no longer available but Craftin Desert Divas has many sequin assortments, choose the assortment that best works with your color combo. (A comparable mix is listed in the supply list below, Maple Leaves.)

Once your sequins have been added, carefully remove your adhesive backing and add your back panel. Now you can remove the backing from your acetate flap and adhere it to the back side of the back panel.

I am so excited about this new release! Crisp leaves, fall friends and more make this release absolutely darling!

My card today features this cute little squirrel from the CDD Favorite Nut Stamps. I colored my images with Copic markers and fussy-cut them out.

I created a background scene with the new CDD Hill Scene 2 Stencil using Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink and die-cut my panel with CDD Fancy Frames Dies. Added to the cloud background is the a few trees on a grassy hill that we die-cut with CDD Fall Border Dies. I inked the ground with Mowed Lawn and Lucky Clover Distress Oxide Inks and colored the trees with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I added the border to my background panel and put my Fancy Frames dies over it to give it the same stitched edge as my panel.

To complete this fall scene I used CDD Blooming Tree Stencil on my card base.  Distress Oxide Inks used were: Gather Twigs, Mowed Lawn, Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade.

I added foam tape to my stitched frame and pop dots to my stamped images to give some dimension to my card. Some twine and sequins were the perfect touch.

Fall In Love ~ Gerda Steiner Designs

August 14, 2018 0 Comments
Hell Crafty Friends!

Today I am featuring a card that I made with Gerda Steiner Designs Stamps and Dies.

These cute little owls just had me! Look at his surprised face! They are such a sweet couple and they were begging me to color them up! These images are from the Fall In Love Stamps.

Let me tell you a little about my card.

I started by coloring my images, owls, leaves and trees, with Copic markers. Once I was happy with the coloring I die cut my images with the Coordinating Dies.

Next to create a background for these images.

I kept in pretty simple and decided to use some ink blending with Distress Oxide Ink.

I thought the MFT Cloud Stencil and Spun Sugar Distress Oxide provided a soft back drop for my images.  For the ground I used MFT Drifts & Hills Stencil with some Mowed Lawn and Lucky Clover Distress Oxide Inks.  I spritzed the background with some water and picked it up with a paper towel. Once everything was dried I die cut my panel with CDD Crazy Stitched Frames Dies.

I mounted my panel on some SSS Fog Cardstock and added my images with some thing foam squares. A little white pen details and this sweet little card was complete.

I hope you enjoyed my card featuring Gerda Steiner Designs.

You're My Favorite Nut ~ CDD August Sneak Peek

August 12, 2018 0 Comments

Hello and Welcome to my blog!

Throughout the week the Craftin Desert Divas design team will be sharing projects featuring products from the August 2018 release that will be available later this week.

Today I am sharing a project created with the new Favorite Nut Stamps. Along with these new stamps I am sharing a look at a new stencil, as well.

This little squirrel image is so cute. He looks like we all feel after eating our Thanksgiving dinner, doesn't he?

To create this scene I started with creating a mask using CDD Torn Paper Dies and some masking paper. I used the negative part of the masking paper and added it to my white cardstock.

The new stencil is going to be a must-have! It has 2 sides the can be used for creating a cloud background and 2 sides to create the ground. As a bonus, the inside has some area where you will be able to added some details to a path or stone wall. It would be a great stencil if you love mixed media.   Just wait until you see it later this week.

So I used the stencil to create the clouds with some Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink and I created the ground with some Mowed Lawn and Lucky Clover Distress Oxide Ink.

Still keeping my stencil mask in place I used CDD Blooming Treen Stencil to create my fall tree with Distress Oxide Ink in Gathered Twigs, Wild Honey, and Fossilized Amber. To add a little depth to the tree I used some Copic markers.

Once I was finished with all of my stenciling I removed my mask. I popped my little image up with some foam tape and stamped my sentiment.

You are going to love all of the images from the new Favorite Nut stamps!

Be sure to join us on the Facebook Event Page! There is a lot happening there and you do not want to miss it!

All of the new stamps, dies, and stencils will be available for purchase on Friday, August 17, in the Craftin Desert Divas Shop.

I will be back on Friday to share another card using this cute set. Hope to see you soon!

You + Me = Best Friends

August 04, 2018 0 Comments
Hello! Welcome to my blog!

Today I am sharing this cute little friend card.

For this card I used Craftin Desert Divas Best Friends stamps. She is so cute and the best part is she is FREE! See the details below.

I colored this little cutie up with Copic markers and added her to panel that I die-cut with CDD Crazy Stitched Frames. I use some Distress Oxide Inks to create a coffee background for her to float in. I spritzed the background with some Perfect Pearls to give some shimmer.

I used a sentiment from the Best Friends stamps and one from the Sending Love stamps (No longer available). I thought they paired well together.

Of course, no card is complete unless there is some SEQUINS! CDD has wide variety and I pulled some from several sets to get a mix that matched my card.

Head on over to Craftin Desert Divas to get your craft on!

Hurry! This offer is only good for this weekend!

You Are Amazing! - with Craftin Desert Divas

July 24, 2018 1 Comments

Hello and welcome to my blog.

Today I am sharing a card I created with Craftin Desert Divas products.

Copic coloring can be a little intimidating so I thought I would share an easy way to use your alcohol markers with no shading required.

To create this card I used the following items:

Fog cardstock
Versa Mark Ink Pad
White Embossing Powder
Powder Bag
Heat Gun
Copic Markers
Stamping Positioner: I own the Misti and Tonic Studios Stamp Platform
Foam Tape Liquid Adhesive

Let's get started!

I started by stamping and heat embossing my flowers from the Botanical Layers Stamps. When heat embossing you need a sticky ink so that your embossing powder will stick to it. The best ink for this is Versa Mark Ink.

Before stamping use your powder tool or powder bag over the area to keep the embossing powder from sticking to areas you don’t want it.

You want to heat up your heat gun for a few moments before taking to the vellum. Move your heat gun around and don’t stay in the same spot for too long. If you have heated your gun long enough it will only take a few seconds for the embossing powder to melt.

Once the vellum is cooled, tun it over and color the other side. You want to color the side that hasn’t been embossed so that you don’t color your embossed lines and it gives the vellum a stained glass look. A great thing about  coloring on vellum is you don’t have to do any blending. As you can see in the picture above I only used 2 Copic markers.

Once the flowers were colored I fussy-cut them with my scissors.

My flowers needed leaves so I colored another piece of vellum with a green Copic markers and die-cut some leaves using the dies from the Inside Scalloped Circle Dies.

Now it’s time to arrange everything onto the panel and see how it looks.

For my panel I used the You Stamps and heat embossed the medallion onto Fog cardstock as well as, the You sentiment. Momento London Fog ink was used to stamp the supporting sentiment.

Since I was happy with this placement I took a picture with my phone so that I could reference it as I glued all the elements down.

I was very careful applying my Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive onto the vellum pieces. Applying a small dot of glue in the centers of the flowers, on the stamen, and a tiny bit on some of the edges was the perfect amount and seemed to be enough to adhere the flowers. The leaves were tucked in under the flowers and the Sentiment was popped up with foam tape.

For a finishing touch, I added a few sequins.

I hope you found this helpful and gets you creating with your favorite Craftin Desert Divas products.

Thank you for spending a bit of your time with me today.
