Rustic Christmas ~ Featuring Altenew

December 18, 2018 1 Comments
Hello and welcome to my blog.

Today I am sharing one last Christmas card featuring products from Altenew.

This card was so fun to create!

To create this card I started by stamping Altenew's Wood Pallet Background stamp onto some cardstock with Aged Mahogany Distress Oxide Ink. I stamped this several times to get a good impression. A stamping platform is great for this as it keeps everything lined up for repeated stamping. After stamping with the Distress Oxide ink I stamped it twice with clear embossing ink and melted it with my heat gun.

I let my panel cool for a bit then I began inking it with more Distress Oxide Inks in Barn Door, Fired Brick, and Aged Mahogany. I wiped my panel down with a paper towel to remove any excess ink. For a more distressed look I spatter my panel with some white and black acrylic paint. I set this aside to dry and began working on my focal images.

I chose a sentiment from Altenew's Festive Silhouettes and stamped it with Barn Door Distress Oxided Ink. I cut it out with a circle die and colored the edge with a Copic marker.

The leaves were stamped from Altenew's Vintage Roses Stamps. I did all of layering with Altenew Ink in Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, and Evergreen and cut them out with the coordinating dies.

Everything was arranged on my card panel and once I was happy with the arrangement I glued it all down.

Final touches included black sequins and some Clear Wink of Stella for some sparkle.

I got my inspiration from Altenew's November Inspiration Board and will be adding this card to the Altenew's Class of 2018 Inspiration Challenge.

Also added this to Simon Says Stamp's Christmas Card Challenge.

You Are Special ~ Craftin Desert Divas December Release

December 13, 2018 0 Comments
Hello! Welcome to my blog!

Today I am sharing another look at the new Craftin Desert Divas Mice to Meet You stamps and All Together Sentiments.

To create this card I started by ink blending some Distress Oxide Ink onto my Neenah Solar White Cardstock. I started by blending some Squeezed Lemonade and Fossilized Amber onto CDD Burst Stencil. I wanted to see the sun's rays come from the side of my scene. With the CDD Hill Scene 2 Stencil I sponged on some Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink to create my clouds.

I stamped my sentiment from CDD All Together Sentiments in Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I wanted this to be par of my grass area and a landing area for my mouse image. I completely inked the bottom on my cardstock with Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, and Pine Needles Distress Oxide Ink.  Once I was happy with ink blended background I sprinkled it with some water and blotted it up with a paper towel. I hit the panel with my heat gun to make sure everything was dry then ran it through my Big Shot with the CDD Crazy Stitched Frame Die. I added the panel to some craft foam and glued it to my card base.

For my images I used CDD Mice to Meet You stamps and colored them with Copic Markers and fussy-cut them out. I stamped the mouse image again onto my background so that I could get her tail. I popped both of the images up with foam squares and added some details with a White Gel Pen and some Glossy Accents on the heart.

The complete the card I added a few Fairy Dust Sequins.

Be sure to check out the December Release in the CDD Shop.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope to see you soon!

Love You This Much! ~ Craftin Desert Divas December Release

December 09, 2018 0 Comments
Hello and Welcome to my blog!

Today I am sharing a sneak peek from Craftin Desert Divas December Release.

The stamp set I am featuring is Mice to Meet You. This set has the cutest mice. I love these little mice and think you will, too!

To create this card I started by stamping a sentiment from CDD All Together Sentiments across my Cardstock with embossing ink. I added some clear embossing powder and heat set it with my heat gun.  Once cooled I added some color with Spun Sugar and Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide Ink to reveal the embossing. For the scalloped edge I used CDD Fancy Frames Dies.

I colored the cute little mouse with Copic markers and fussy-cut her out. Yes, I even cut out those time hearts! I put together CDD Stitched Box Die and added some polka dots with CDD Sorted Shapes 1 Stencil and white pigment ink. I added my little mouse inside and arranged her on the card panel.

I heat embossed the sentiment that is included in the new Mice to Meet You set and added a few details with a white gel pen, Clear Wink of Stella, and Nuvo Crystal Drops in Morning Dew.

All of the new product will be available Monday, December 10 in the CDD Shop.

Be sure to head on over to the CDD Gallery to see even more with the new products!

December 07, 2018 0 Comments
Hello Friends! Welcome to my blog and another release from Crafting Desert Divas

Today I am share a sneak peek a the new CDD Dragon Tales Stamps and All Together Sentiments.

The Dragon Tales stamp set is a 5"x7" stamp set filled with cute images to make so many fairy tale scenes. You've got castles, dragons, a princess, and knights in shining armor all included in this set.

For my card I created a scene. I started by creating a background with CDD Hill Scene 2 Stencil to create my clouds and ground. For this I used Tumbled Glass, Twisted Citron, and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide Inks.

The tree was inked with Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Gathered Twigs, and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Inks and CDD Blooming Tree Stencil. I used my Copic makers to give the tree a little bit of detail.

I colored my princess and dragon from the CDD Dragon Tales stamps using Copic markers and fussy-cut them out. Before I adding them to my card I stamped a sentiment from the new All Together Sentiments. These sentiments are designed to go across the card but I decided to stamp it a bit off my card.

I popped the images up with some foam squares and added my panel to a white card base.

Be sure to head on over the Craftin Desert Divas Gallery on Facebook to see even more projects using these new stamps.

The full release will be available for purchase on Monday, December 10, 2018 in the CDD Shop.

Warmest Wishes ~ CDD November Release

November 15, 2018 0 Comments

Hello Friends!

I am back to share another card from Craftin Desert Divas Bear Hugs Stamps and the new Snowflake Border Dies.

I love how this sweet card came together and I hope you do too.

To create this card I started with a panel of Neenah Solar White 80# cardstock and used the new CDD Snowflake Border die to die cut the beautiful snowflakes across 3/4 of my panel. I adhered the panel to my card base the is made with Neenah 110# Solar White.

Next I took some Strathmore Bristol Smooth Cardstock and ink blended my panel with Distress Oxide Inks in the Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, Wilted Violet, Faded Jeans, and a little Black Soot. I spritzed it with a little water and picked it up with a paper towel. I hit it with my heat gun to make sure it was nice and dry then used CDD Stitched In Circles Dies to cut out my circle.

For my sentiment I used CDD Chilly Stamps (no longer available) and heat embossed it using WOW! Super Fine Embossing Powder in Opaque Bright White. I added my die-cut circle to my panel.

Now it was time for my focal image. I just think this little bear from CDD Bear Hugs Stamps all cosy in his cave is the cutest!! I colored the image with my Copic Marker and fussy-cut it out.  I added some Nuvo Crystal drops in Simply White. Instead making a drop I placed a bead of it on the different laces on the case and sprinted the areas with some Martha Stewart Coarse Glitter that I have had in my stash forever. I used my finger to press it into the Nuvo Crystal Drops. When I was happy with the look I added some foam squares to the upper portion of my cave and added a bead of glue to the bottom portion and added it to my card front.

I added some more Nuvo Crystal Drops and glitter to the bottom of my cave and ground.  My last step was to add a few of the snowflakes from the CDD Snowflake Border Dies around my sentiment that had been glittered and some additional snow in the sky using my White Gel Pen.

I just adore the way this card came together!

Be sure to head on over to the CDD Shop to grab all of the new products!

Bear Hugs ~ Craftin Desert Divas November Release

November 08, 2018 1 Comments

Hello, my friends! Today is the start of another Craftin Desert Divas release.

My card features the new Bear Hugs Stamps and Snowflake Border Dies.

The Bear Hugs stamps are so cute! I love all of the images in this set and the fonts for the sentiments are fabulous!!

I am in love with the new Snowflake Border Dies! I used one of the small dies in the set to create a faux "cover plate" design and I adore the way this came out!

I wanted to keep my card pretty clean and simple so I layered my white die-cut panel over a white card base.

For my focal point I used CDD Stitched in Circles Dies along with the CDD Hill Scene 2 Stencil to create a background for my image. I used Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink for the clouds. Before layering my circle I stamped my sentiment from the new CDD Bear Hugs Stamps, I layered the die-cut circle onto my panel and trimed the edge.

I colored up this cute polar bear with Copic markers and popped him up on some foam squares onto my card, then took a few of the snowflakes for the new CDD Snowflake Border Dies and added them around the sentiment. For more sparkle and shine, I added a few clear gems to the centers of the snowflakes, Clear Wink of Stella to the snow, and some Morning Dew Nuvo Crystal Drops to my polar bears nose.

Be sure to head on over the the Craftin Desert Divas Facebook Gallery to find more inspiration using the Bear Hugs Stamps and Snowflake Border Dies.

These products will be available in the CDD Shop on November 13.

Floral Birthday with My Favorite Things

November 02, 2018 0 Comments
Hello and Wellcome to my blog!

Today I am sharing a birthday card I created for my mother-in-law for her birthday using products from My Favorite Things, Altenew, and Simon Says Stamp.

I don't know about you but I have ordered many products over the years and sometimes they sit for quite awhile before I have a chance to use them. That is the case with these products.

I started this project by stamping the MFT Painted Prints with Altenew Inks. I used Frosty Pink, Coral Berry, and Ruby Red for the flowers and Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades for the leaves. I die cut the flowers with the Coordinating Dies.

I used MFT Dynamics Flower Vase die to die cut a vase with white cardstock. I inked the vase with some Distress Oxide Ink in Spun Sugar and added a little gold detail with some gold thread from my stash.

I arranged my flowers and leaves in the vase and set it aside.

I took a piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock and embossed it with a Sizzix embossing folder to give my card some texture. I layered it on my card base and added a tag that I had splattered with a little Altenew Watercolor that coordinates with the ink I used for the flowers. To the tag I added more of the gold thread,

For the sentiment I used the Handlettered Happy Birthday Die from Simon Says Stamp. I die-cut the sentiment in white cardstock and heat embossed it a few times with some Recollections Sparkling Clear Gold Embossing Powder. This matched perfectly with the gold thread I had used on the vase and tag. The sentiment die is actually long so I cut it apart so that I could stack it on the card.

Once I had all of my elements completed I layered them on the card.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope to see you again!

Peace and Joy with Craftin Desert Divas

October 29, 2018 0 Comments
Hello friends,

Today my card features the new Craftin Desert Divas October release products with some ink blending and coloring with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens.

I first stamped the image from CDD Merry Florals onto some Bristol Smooth card stock. I heat embossed my image with some Hero Arts White Embossing powder and colored the image in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. Once I was happy with the image I fussy cut it and put it aside.

I took another piece of the Bristol Smooth card stock and ink blended it with some Distress Oxide Inks in Twisted Citron and Pealed Paint. To add more interest I sprinkled the panel with some water droplets and picked it up with a paper towel.

Once dry, I stamped the panel with a sentiment from CDD Seasonal Wreaths. I love these beautiful font font his set and it first perfectly on this card.

To create a window I took a die from CDD Inside Scalloped Octagon and ran it through my Big Shot.   I ran the die once again with some scrap card stock so that I could stack up a few frames around my sentiment. I then die-cut my panel with CDD Crazy Stitched Frames

I layered all of my panels together and stacked the octagon frames onto some Bazzil Easter Grass card base. I popped my image up with some foam squares and added a little Clear Wink of Stella to my poinsettia. To give the card just a little bit extra oomph I added some Nuvo Crystal Drops in Morning Dew in random spots around my sentiment.

Here is a little color guide for my image.

Thanks for stopping by today. I'll be back soon with another card.

No Tricking ~ with Craftin Desert Divas

October 06, 2018 0 Comments

Hello Creative Friends!

Happy World Card Making Day!

Today I am sharing a cute Halloween card comprised of products that can be found at Craftin Desert Divas.

I colored up this cute image with Copic markers and fussy-cut it out.

I don't know about you but I have a lot of patterned paper in my stash and It will take me years to use it all up so instead of doing some ink blending I used my dies and patterned paper.

I started with a black card base and layered it with white and a strip of green patterned paper that I die-cut with CDD Crazy Stitched Frames Die. Next I used CDD Pocket Pieces Hello Dies to cut my star patterned papers and I layered them on top.

The sentiment is from the same Ghostly Good Time Stamps and I heat embossed it with some Ranger Embossing Powder in Lime. I really like that it matches my patterned paper and it looks so cool on the black card stock. I die-cut it with CDD Flag Banner Dies. Before I attached it to my card I ties a piece of purple Baker's Twine around it and tied a bow. I pooped up my sentiment and image and completed my card.

Have a wonderful day and I hope you are able to find a moment to get your crafty supplies out and play a little today!

To create this card I began by creating a square panel and doing some ink blending with Distress Oxide inks. I used the following: Carved Pumpkin, Mowed Lawn, Wilted Violet, and Black Soot. Once I had everything blended to my linking I flicked on a little water and blotted it up with a towel. I added some flicks of black acrylic paint for more interest. I covered the panel with some Clear Wink of Stella to give it some shine.

While my ink blended panel was drying I dry embossed a white piece of cardstock with an old Cuttlebug Embossing Folder to give my card some texture.

Favorite Nut Shaker Card

August 28, 2018 0 Comments

Hello Friends! Saundra here to share a little step-by-step tutorial for creating a shaker card.

To create this shaker card you will need the following:

  • Cardstock
  • Acetate or clear packaging
  • Foam tape or Fun Foam
  • Adhesive
  • Versamark Ink or another sticky ink
  • Clear embossing powder
  • Stamps
  • Dies

STEP 1

Step 1: Stamp and heat emboss your background.

For my background panel, I stamped the acorn and leaf images from CDD Autumn Wishes stamps onto some kraft colored cardstock using Versa Mark Ink and clear embossing powder. For added interest, I splattered some white and black acrylic paint onto my panel and set it aside.

STEP 2

Step 2: Prepare inside panel.

For the inside panel, I used CDD Hill Scene 2 Stencil and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink to create a few clouds. I already had a plan in mind so I only stenciled the area that I thought would be showing.

STEP 3

Step 3: Die cut front panel.

To create my window for my acetate I placed the CDD Stitched-In Circles Dies on the edge of my panel, allowing it to partially hang over the edge. I thought having the window off center would give my shaker a bit more interest.

STEP 4

Step 4: Decorate the inside panel.

To decorate the inside panel I choose to use CDD Urn Dies and various colors of cardstock to create a tree branch in the background.

Step 5: Add Acetate

Now it is time to build my shaker card window. I like to use Scor-Tape or double-sided tape to secure my acetate. Liquid glue tends to ooze and it takes a while for it to dry. I am not that patient! Once your adhesive has been added around the opening you will want to add your acetate. I cut my acetate so that it was big enough for the window with some hanging over the side. In the next photo you will see what I mean, at least, I hope!

STEP 6
Step 6: Score your acetate.

With the acetate attached to my card front, I placed it on a scoreboard. You will want to score the acetate right next to the edge of the card and again about ⅛” from the first score line.

STEP 7

Step 7: Begin window assembly.

Now it’s time to assemble the card. I cut a piece of fun foam and added adhesive all over both sides. I also added a piece of Scor-Tape to the acetate flap that was created with my scoreboard.

Add your foam tape of fun foam to the backside of the front panel.

Step 8: Add Sequins

Before adhering your back panel to enclose the window you will need to add some sequins. The sequins I used here was from a fall pack that is no longer available but Craftin Desert Divas has many sequin assortments, choose the assortment that best works with your color combo. (A comparable mix is listed in the supply list below, Maple Leaves.)

Once your sequins have been added, carefully remove your adhesive backing and add your back panel. Now you can remove the backing from your acetate flap and adhere it to the back side of the back panel.

My card today features this cute little squirrel from the CDD Favorite Nut Stamps. I colored my images with Copic markers and fussy-cut them out.

I created a background scene with the new CDD Hill Scene 2 Stencil using Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink and die-cut my panel with CDD Fancy Frames Dies. Added to the cloud background is the a few trees on a grassy hill that we die-cut with CDD Fall Border Dies. I inked the ground with Mowed Lawn and Lucky Clover Distress Oxide Inks and colored the trees with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I added the border to my background panel and put my Fancy Frames dies over it to give it the same stitched edge as my panel.

To complete this fall scene I used CDD Blooming Tree Stencil on my card base.  Distress Oxide Inks used were: Gather Twigs, Mowed Lawn, Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade.

I added foam tape to my stitched frame and pop dots to my stamped images to give some dimension to my card. Some twine and sequins were the perfect touch.

Fall In Love ~ Gerda Steiner Designs

August 14, 2018 0 Comments
Hell Crafty Friends!

Today I am featuring a card that I made with Gerda Steiner Designs Stamps and Dies.

These cute little owls just had me! Look at his surprised face! They are such a sweet couple and they were begging me to color them up! These images are from the Fall In Love Stamps.

Let me tell you a little about my card.

I started by coloring my images, owls, leaves and trees, with Copic markers. Once I was happy with the coloring I die cut my images with the Coordinating Dies.

Next to create a background for these images.

I kept in pretty simple and decided to use some ink blending with Distress Oxide Ink.

I thought the MFT Cloud Stencil and Spun Sugar Distress Oxide provided a soft back drop for my images.  For the ground I used MFT Drifts & Hills Stencil with some Mowed Lawn and Lucky Clover Distress Oxide Inks.  I spritzed the background with some water and picked it up with a paper towel. Once everything was dried I die cut my panel with CDD Crazy Stitched Frames Dies.

I mounted my panel on some SSS Fog Cardstock and added my images with some thing foam squares. A little white pen details and this sweet little card was complete.

I hope you enjoyed my card featuring Gerda Steiner Designs.

You're My Favorite Nut ~ CDD August Sneak Peek

August 12, 2018 0 Comments

Hello and Welcome to my blog!

Throughout the week the Craftin Desert Divas design team will be sharing projects featuring products from the August 2018 release that will be available later this week.

Today I am sharing a project created with the new Favorite Nut Stamps. Along with these new stamps I am sharing a look at a new stencil, as well.

This little squirrel image is so cute. He looks like we all feel after eating our Thanksgiving dinner, doesn't he?

To create this scene I started with creating a mask using CDD Torn Paper Dies and some masking paper. I used the negative part of the masking paper and added it to my white cardstock.

The new stencil is going to be a must-have! It has 2 sides the can be used for creating a cloud background and 2 sides to create the ground. As a bonus, the inside has some area where you will be able to added some details to a path or stone wall. It would be a great stencil if you love mixed media.   Just wait until you see it later this week.

So I used the stencil to create the clouds with some Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink and I created the ground with some Mowed Lawn and Lucky Clover Distress Oxide Ink.

Still keeping my stencil mask in place I used CDD Blooming Treen Stencil to create my fall tree with Distress Oxide Ink in Gathered Twigs, Wild Honey, and Fossilized Amber. To add a little depth to the tree I used some Copic markers.

Once I was finished with all of my stenciling I removed my mask. I popped my little image up with some foam tape and stamped my sentiment.

You are going to love all of the images from the new Favorite Nut stamps!

Be sure to join us on the Facebook Event Page! There is a lot happening there and you do not want to miss it!

All of the new stamps, dies, and stencils will be available for purchase on Friday, August 17, in the Craftin Desert Divas Shop.

I will be back on Friday to share another card using this cute set. Hope to see you soon!
